retired seniors volunteer program (RSVP)

Promoting volunteerism among adults 55 and over, while encouraging their interests, using their abilities and mobilizing them to meet the most pressing needs in our region.

The AmeriCorps Seniors Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a volunteer program that engages Americans 55 years and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs, and to provide a high-quality experience for the volunteers. Organizations determine where the need is greatest and how volunteers can respond to the need as long as it falls within one of AmeriCorps’ six focus areas: Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Environmental Stewardship, Education, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Members. The program offers accident and liability insurance while serving, recognition, and opportunities to socialize.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Age: 55 years or older.

The MOVRC sponsors the program in Calhoun,  Jackson,  Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Roane,  Tyler,  Wetzel, Wirt, and Wood Counties.

The RSVP is a part of the AmeriCorpsSeniors program, which is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) in the United States.
